Nursing from the beginning has existed in numerous forms in every single culture, whilst the definition of nursing and its practice has changed considerably over time. The oldest form of the word is found in the English language from the 14th century and referred to a woman employed to suckle and normally care for a younger child. In the 15th century, nursing developed in the notion of searching after or advising yet another, and not necessarily meaning a woman looking after a child. The thought of nourishing in the broadest sense refers in modern nursing to promoting top quality of life.

Lindamood-Bell Is Going To “light It Up Blue” For World Austism Awareness Day

Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes is excited to help raise awareness for autism by participating in the “Light It Up Blue” campaign beginning April 1 , 2010.

All 43 Lindamood-Bell Learning Centers throughout the nation will be decorated in blue with displays about autism beginning Thursday evening, April 1 .  The displays will include facts about autism and will be seen in every storefront window.  Additionally, all Lindamood-Bell employees will wear blue on Friday, April 2 to help raise awareness for autism and to commemorate World Autism Awareness Day in collaboration with Autism Speaks.

“We are pleased to participate in this event to bring autism awareness to the forefront and show that we support research efforts to bring an end to this epidemic,” says Nanci Bell, Director and Co-Founder of Lindamood-Bell. “We see so many students that are diagnosed with autism and have found great success in helping to improve their language and literacy skills.  It is life-changing and so important that our entire world helps these individuals and understands their struggles.”
